The days are starting to blur a little and I'm not sure what I've left out. I've been revisiting the interesting places nearby, near Bei Hai park, the Drum Tower and the Bell Tower, and Wangfujing Dajie, the shopping street. Daring to walk a little further one day, I walked up through the northern area of central Beijing. Not going in any particular direction I stopped to check my map and saw I was marginally closer to Di Tan Park than I had been and resolved to make this my destination. The walk was largely along the highway and there was little shade. After a long walk I reached the Park, expecting it to be free like Ri Tan park in the east. No such luck. As it turned out I had spent my last 3yuan on an ice-cream further back. I decided to walk back and as my meander there had gone out of the way I chose a straighter route back. The walk took around two hours to complete with no money on me to get a taxi or more water. The moral being, dont leave the Hostel
