Hi Guys,
So its my turn to write the blog now, and were in Florianopolis at the moment which is a long bus ride from Paraty where we last blogged. We`ve had several problems along the way but we have definitely had the best time so far here, Rio was amazing and everything and we loved it there but its been SO fun here, when we haven`t been constantly emailing caxton and our poor mothers about money (to cut a long story short both of our cash cards got cloned and so we had to shut them down, getting new cards posted to BA and luckily everyone in the hostel here has been so kind so we`ve used their accounts to withdraw cash. We are fine so nobody panic.)
Before I forget, Tora (unsuprisingly) failed to mention that on arrival in Ilha Grande - seems such a long time ago now - we got off the ferry boat and there was this awful noise coming from the bottom of the boat where all the bags were. It didn`t take us long to realise that it was coming from Tora`s bag and then I fell around laughing because Tora worked out it was the door stop rape alarm thingy that Alice had bought us as our leaving present, which was going off right at the bottom of the bag. So all along the pier we had to walk with this alarm going off, both of us hidiously embarrassed but it was so funny. Tora then had to completely unpack her bag as the noise got louder and louder and then scrambled around looking for how to turn off the alarm. As you know we soon stopped laughing on arrival in the campsite.
But coming back to Floripa, we had yet another nightmare in Sao Paulo bus station because we couldnt get the bus to here because our cards failed us once again. Lots of emails back and forth, but we made it in the end - after using the emergency dollars. We got to Floripa and the clever mummys had sorted our cards for us and we wandered aimlessly around for a bit wondering where to stay and I was getting more and more desperate to just find anywhere. I had a bit of a moment in the bus station when I was so dehydrated I thought I might die and all these stupid Brazilians were telling us directions in Portuguese and even though we had made it perfectly clear that we didnt understand, they just kept talking and pointing. So we left them and then while I was on the point of collapse Tora found an Irish guy who showed us where to go to find Tucano House. We have extended our stay here twice because we like it so much.
On our first night, we went to this super smart club, where boys have to pay loads on entry and girls are completely free - which we thought was great. It was so cold in the dancefloor because they were completely over doing the air con that Tora could feel her reynauds syndrome coming on but we had a really good time there. We had made friends with some english and french people in the hostel who we were with all evening. We made played the funniest games in the bar, one was called rabbits and one of the french guys made the most ridiculous noise when he was the rabbit nobody could take the game seriously, was such a fun night.
Also went to some other parties which have been good fun (although the Samba night was a bit of a disaster since we brought the average age down by a lot), and everyone here in the hostel has been great, so much fun to be with, although the aussies that we are sharing a room with at the moment smell so bad its really terrible. Tora is convinced its vegemite, but I think its farts. Its so funny though because Toras bed is right in the middle of their area and all their rubbish and bags are everywhere and she hates it because they smell and they`re really messy, but when she tried sleeping in my bed which is right next to this really powerful fan she couldnt take how windy it was. And its not too bad `because one of them is really neat and has a washbag with all his things lined up... and he`s really good looking and Australian.` She has just come over to the computer when I told her I was writing about him and she just told me that `it really does actually make me fancy him. the fact that he`s so tidy!`
You will all be happy to hear that we are now tanned!! SO exciting. And the fact that I am loading photos now is purely coincidence I promise. We went sand boarding the other day which was good fun, we basically just sand toboganned though because standing up was really difficult. THe hardest part was definitely walking back up the hill though, really put us off sliding down once we knew how difficult it was to get back up again! Other than that we have spent lots of time at the beach, swimming in the sea, reading our books. Lots of backgammon, the travel backgammon set was definitely a good plan. Just relaxing and spending time with the people from the hostel. Its cold and raining right now though which is annoying since its our last night.
Tomorrow we are getting the bus to Iguazu falls and after that we`re going straight into Argentina and onto BA - I can`t wait to get there we`ve heard so much about it from everyone here and after being here a week its definitely time to leave!
Lots of love, hope you`re all well,
